Outdoor Rec Center Rentals
Water Sports Gear
We have one type of Canoe. Wenonah Spirit II is an all around boat that will work for touring trips or on basic whitewater. 16 feet 9 inches. 69 lbs. Our canoes can be rented for use on flatwater or moving water up to class I.
Canoes can normally hold three adults; however there are only two actual seats.
Canoe packages come with three life jackets and three paddles. Paddles are single bladed, and have a T grip on the end of the handle. Sizing for paddle length is done by placing it under the chin of the renter: from the ground to their chin is an approximate guess for the correct size.
Life Jackets
Life jackets or Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are worn by people participating in water related activities such as rafting, canoeing and kayaking. A life jacket is meant to provide floatation to a person in the event they lose contact with their boat and are swimming.
Type 3 jackets are used for canoeing and kayaking. The jackets vary in fit and shape; however they offer the same amount of floatation. Size y, s/m, m/l, l/xl
Life jackets should fit comfortably and not hinder movement. These jackets include a zipper, as well as nylon straps to tighten them. Remember that a jacket does no good if it's not worn and fastened properly.

Caution: Although ORC staff is happy to show patrons how to use this tie-down system, it is ultimately the renters/drivers responsibility to attach the canoe to the vehicle and make sure that it is done safely (they will have to put the canoe back on the vehicle for the return trip). Not all vehicles can safely carry a canoe for long distances. A roof rack system that is able to handle heavy loads is recommended to transport a canoe over long distances.
Dry bags are used in white water activities. The bags are designed to keep gear dry and clean. We have two types of dry bags. Small/Medium (600-2300 cubic inches) dry bags are able to accommodate items like 1 persons clothing, pack lunch for the river, a first aid kit, etc. The Large dry bags (3.8 to 5 cubic feet) are ones with (or some without) shoulder straps that can be used to store gear for multi-day water trips. Dry bags are not 100 % waterproof.
