Who Can Rent?

A wide variety of quality outdoor gear is available for rental. West Virginia University students, faculty, staff, affiliated employees, and their families are eligible to rent this equipment. A Mountaineer Card must be presented in order to rent.

Rental Fees

All rental fees must be paid when checking out the gear or when reserving it. Gear can be picked up after 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to rental and must be returned to the rental center by 12:00 a.m. on the day following the last rental day. Individuals who return items late will be charged the per day fee.

Equipment Reservations

Reservations for skiing equipment may be made up to 1 day in advance and all other equipment may be reserved starting Monday of each week. To reserve gear, renters must come in person, pay the rental fee, and sign a rental contract. No phone reservations will be accepted. Reservations must be cancelled more than 24 hours in advance to receive a full refund. No refunds will be given to cancellations made within 24 hours.

Additional Charges

Any gear that is returned dirty or wet can be cleaned or dried by the renter at the rental center; otherwise, a cleaning fee of $10 will be charged. If gear is returned damaged, a repair fee will be charged. If gear is lost or destroyed, a replacement fee will be charged. A list of applicable fees is also available at the rental center.
