Climbing Wall
Experience the thrill of rock climbing on our massive 50-foot climbing wall, the literal heart of the Center. Designed to replicate the unique beauty of West Virginia’s outdoors, the wall features more than 2,000 interchangeable hand-holds attached to 3,500 square feet of simulated rock surface, which features face climbs, crack climbs, a small cave/roof, a pillar, overhangs, arretts, and many other small features. These features allow for a wide range of climbs, from beginner to advanced. There is also a bouldering cave with high angle climbing surfaces that will challenge even the most accomplished climbers. Climbers of all skill levels can challenge themselves, hone their skills, and keep in shape.
Any Student Recreation Center patron can use the climbing wall. See the Using the Wall page for more information or stop by the climbing wall desk.
Women’s Climbing.
Rock climb with other women in a comfortable atmosphere. There will be informal instruction on techniques by a female wall staff. Both bouldering and top rope climbing will be included. Wednesdays 4-7p during the fall and spring semesters. No cost – it is free!
